Responding to Emergencies

Black Saturday Fires

AMURT was able to respond fairly early on with a team consisting of Pradeep, Mala, Dada Paramatmananda and Anadii. The AMURT Team had a GP Dr. Jitendra Singh on hand at the Red Cross Centre at Whittlesea to respond to the unfolding emergency. We also received a donation of laptops and provided them for logistic support

Hurricane Haiyan - Phillipines

Typhoon Haiyan is the strongest storm ever in our recorded history. It made its landfall in Tacloban, Phillipines. Because AMURT is established at grassroots level, we were able to respond immediately. AMURT Australia organized a fundraising and sent a container full of medical equipment over.

Cyclone Idai - MOZAMBIQUE

AMURT runs a permanent presence in Xai Xai, Mozambique. We run a school and a community support program. Thus when the cyclone hit the Beira, Sofala province, AMURT responded within a few hours and sent out an appeal worldwide through our network.
